Journey

Journey
Leaving safe haven
the jaws of harbour open
gaping a vulnerable adventure.
Confine of cliff and quay
way-leaving
for freedom’s
dangerous smile.
A salty simile of life:
its hazards,
hidden wrecks and basking rocks,
uncharted horizons
beckon and forbid
in equilibrium.
And though this day
be murk and grey
and doldrums hide in wait
yet still I will
endeavour forth
knowing providence and fate
lie shackled by God’s hand.
And on days of full winded sail,
be they stormy winds or fair,
I’m destined for another land
and heaven's haven care.
