A peal

A peal

Listen,
no sounding bell to call for worship
no hint of clang or misplaced toll;
no ear incensing penetration
but the pastel sounds of colour
the infusion of scent,
and the glory
of reverent nature.
Listen,
this, the peal that greets the morning,
this the wakeful blessing of the day,
this the dewy eyed adorning
that keeps monotony at bay.
We may not have eyes that see a Creator,
nor ears to hear His whispered words,
but visions of wonder are here before us
in created flower and the song of birds.
