Not all beauty
is splendorous
a jewel in shiny armour
or filigree entanglement of light.
Not all beauty
is only available in white,
youths unblemished pasture,
or size tens confining contour.
No precision can emulate
the randomness of beauty
when it catches unwary glances
or when the mind observes
what is blind to eye.
Perceive the ironic beauty
of colour caused by a flaw in perfection,
a smile of peace on a dying face,
a tear of joy.
So if I lean or limp or lisp,
if my shape betrays my years
and decay begins with days fading,
or the tide of energy ebbs early,
view all with incredulity
for I am
“fearfully and wonderfully made”.
