Resolutions

Those words
fresh and crisp as laden snow
spoken in hearts
at the dawn of the year,
have faded now.
They hardened with icy blasts,
shell-like shields shattered
scattered and scoured
with chill.
The branches they were laid upon
yielded at the weight of their custody
bending or breaking under intentions’ load.
They are slushed and dirty
trodden beneath the walk of time.

Beautiful - both the words and the photo!

Oh, no--broken resolutions already?

Actually, I loved this not only because it is so completely beautifully written and because of the glorious photo--but because it has reminded me how easily our best intentions can start slipping away.

Thanks for the renewal of focus on those 20-day old resolutions! Onward through the slush...

Wonderful. Simply wonderful, and ironically true. Human nature does have a universality, doesn't it?
