When we were young
valentines were love-hearts
neatly wrapped in tubes
ready to unwrap and read.
Now we are no longer young
and those things of love
are unwrapped and tasted.
The sweet is no longer
all sugar
and gone in moments.
Love remains
sweet
lasting a life time.
