We too hold hands
Sea otters hold hands while sleeping so they don’t drift away from each other
We too hold hands at night,
like sea otters
with the comfort of touch.
We drift off to sleep
entwined
lest one of us,
monstered by dreaming,
is tidied away
by wayward tides.
For ‘here be dragons’
in the uncharted waters
of the slumbered night,
where day-blind subconscious
is navigator
and the stars are in anarchy.
