Like an eye into tomorrow
the path threads through the trees,
to a view that we just borrow,
the temptation of the scene.
For this is just some other trail,
not the one we follow now,
it holds no special charm or grail
and yet attracts somehow.
Digression is an option
but will keep for another day
when it can claim its own attraction
and become the better way.
