The shadow and the argument of grass

The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms.
Deuteronomy 33:27

The tree’s shadow is not the tree
but a beckoning reach
offering shade
and a presence.
Though not the tree
this embossing ghost
echoes the tree,
an expression
changing in the moment.
Spreading from the tree
its comforting touch
filters gently
into the absorbing
argument of grass.
