Falls

Falls

Thunderous flood, tumultuous storm of water,
a cadence of gush and rush.
Stamping onto rock face
it shimmers the air with rebel droplets
loosed from the fisted flow.
The rampant river bellows its power,
a turmoil of white
a furore of watery battle-cries
overwhealming the bird cry and tree rustle.
An over-fed torturing ogre
purging and plunging on this day
ignorant of the store of tomorrow.
This temper rages onwards
never looking back,
never conscious,
an unchecked aggressor, destroyer.
Ignorant
that parching days
will cheat that power.
Then the muscled energy is robbed
and the rocks strike back
forcing changed directions
by their stoic defiances.
