Cascade

In the percussion of a million splashes

water leaps to the rock's applause.

In transit this maelstrom stream

curtains its elevation

opaqued by speeding transport

outlining its transparency.

The urgent instrumentation

of this liquid orchestra

crescendos

its water music.

There is no quiet beatitude

in the rodeo of its journey

nor whispered prayer

or lament within its torrent.

Here is the playful

abandonment

of a triumphant hallelujah chorus,

a rapid pulse

forced by the fisted river

breaching the taboo

of slip, trip and tumble

over stubborn rock.
