Seven sisters

From the deck

you see

in the distance

seven sisters.

Seven sisters weeping

from lofty heights.

Tears washing rocks

that have suffered those tears

for eons.

Why do you sisters weep ?

You weep aged raindrop tears

gathered in gulley and rivulet.

You weep the melted snow

which feathered distant hills

and clothed them

in ermine.

Why do you sisters weep ?

Seven sisters holding candles

to weather

singing a song of exile

in the cascading.

And wading, at the foot of the fall,

into the fjord,

into its echo,

into the blood-water of its brother.

Quietly slipping

into unity.
