Houghton Hall Park 5th Jan 2017 |
The sun
begins its walk in the park
unsullied
by the night;
stealthy
and quiet,
it
begins its colouring.
Silhouetted
trees grab the light first -
head of
the queue
releasing
birds from the grip of darkness
and
gripping sunlight instead.
Tinseled
outlines of frost,
the
sprinkled fairy-dust of chill
in
their branches,
a
phantasm in transit
the
last protagonist
in the
conflict of light.
