The sky is gold tonight
the currency of splendour,
opulent opalescence,
polished liquid heavens.
The sun is Midas
coating the clouds
with his touch
as the land yields its colour
to the coming of evening.
The sky is gold tonight;
a legacy
greedily snatched by its heir,
as all too soon
the impoverishing
of darkness
steals our shadows.
