Savour

In the spiral
there is only direction -
a sense of end,
each turn a taste closer
to a hidden elusive
beyond the twist.
Tomorrow lies there
in a promise;
infinity twirls
around it.

Today is but a flavour
taste buds remember,
with the essence
of now
and the tantalus
of eternity.

Walking these steps,
through the unknowing,
is savouring heaven
that grows in travail
within our soul
and the steady drip
of change.
Faith guides the feet
that walk blinkered
towards
the mystery
around the corner.

This is excellent, it makes me yearn to know what's around the next bend, just beyond that which is seen...

Thanks Keith!

Lovely, lovely! Way to incorporate TWO of our CW recent themes. I'm trying hard lately to look at the unknown future (and the change it brings) with "excited expectation." Your poem hit it on the head--it's about faith. Thanks, Keith.

I love the idea of faith guiding our feet in this journey.

Thanks Keith - good thought on walking by faith towards the mystery.

Keith, you've very poetically captured the essence of what it's like to deal with many of the changes we face in life. The spiral staircase (great photo, by the way) is an apt analogy to that journey. We can only see a few steps ahead, if that, and we have to trust that we're not going to end up in a head-on collision with someone or something coming the other direction. Thank God He's walked the path already and is ready to lead and guide us if we'll let Him.

What a great photo - and I also like the way the words go so well with it! Nice job!

Your poem encourages me to look at change with expectancy. It reminds me that not all change is bad. Thanks for sharing. Beautiful.
