Marley's Dilemma

Marley’s Dilemma

Picturesque and perilous,
intertwined, entangled
and touched with erosion.
The weighty years of exposure
hang heavy and dig deep,
leaving a trail of discarded rust
dispassionately in their wake.

Where once this muscled iron
held fast and firm,
proud in rampant storm,
now it lies, redundant ballast,
ready to trip reckless unwary feet.

Three day old manna
discarded on the desert of deserted wharf.
Metal parable of life -
when discarded gift or blinkered eye
ignore the path of constancy
and wallow in the fallowed furrow
of self.
